  • Date lodged: Monday, 20 June 2022
  • Motion reference: S6M-05106
  • Current status: Taken in the Chamber on Wednesday, 22 June 2022

Motions as amended

That the Parliament notes that, under the UK Government’s Energy Bills Support Scheme, second home owners across Scotland will receive a double payment of the £400 credit for their energy bills; considers that this funding would be better used to support low-income households struggling with the cost of living crisis, and agrees that the Scottish Government, in consultation with COSLA, should examine all options to recover this money through a council tax levy on second homes and long-term empty homes in order to support local cost-of-living responses on a fair and equitable basis.
