The Committee considers its work programme regularly so as to maintain a rolling programme of business. Alongside referred work such as legislation and petitions, the Committee’s main business over coming months is set out below.

Please note that this is subject to change.

  • Thursday 12th January: A one off evidence session with the Deputy First Minister regarding an update on the Redress scheme. 
  • Wednesday 18th January: A Budget Scrutiny session with the Cabinet Secretary for Education and Skills and the Minister for Children and Young People.
  • Wednesday 1st February: First evidence session on the Disabled Children and Young People (Transitions to Adulthood) (Scotland) Bill.
  • Wednesday 8th February: Evidence session on the Disabled Children and Young People (Transitions to Adulthood) (Scotland) Bill.
  • February Recess 11th to 19th February
  • Wednesday 22nd February: Evidence session on the Disabled Children and Young People (Transitions to Adulthood) (Scotland) Bill.
  • Wednesday 1st March: Evidence session on the Disabled Children and Young People (Transitions to Adulthood) (Scotland) Bill.
To achieve the best possible experiences and outcomes for children, young people, lifelong learners and service deliverers the Committee will:


Work in a collegiate and inclusive manner that seeks to maximise consensus.
Scrutinise the Scottish Government and other public bodies.
Listen to a diverse range of people and a wide range of perspectives.
Identify opportunities for children and young people to achieve their potential and celebrate success.
Integrate the perspectives of children and young people into our work; and
Make recommendations that are intended to improve outcomes and experiences for children and young people.
