1 Decision on taking business in private:

The Committee agreed to take items 3 and 4 in private.


2 Scotland's supply chain:

The Committee took evidence from—

Professor Iain Bomphray, Director, Lightweight Manufacturing Centre;

Professor Keith Ridgway, Executive Chair, National Manufacturing Institute Scotland;

Nick Shields, Head of Business Support Services, Scottish Enterprise.


3 Scotland's supply chain:

The Committee considered the evidence heard earlier in the meeting and agreed to write to the UK Government and the Construction Scotland Innovation Centre for further information.


4 Work programme:

The Committee considered its work programme and agreed (1) the next inquiry will be on town centre economies and retail and to consider a scoping paper early in the New Year; (2) to invite the Cabinet Secretary for Finance and the Economy to give evidence on the 2022-23 budget and that its pre-budget focus for 2023-24 will include support for women in the economy and for internationalisation activities; (3) to invite the Cabinet Secretary or relevant Minister to give concluding evidence on the inquiry into Scotland’s supply chain and to write again to the UK Government seeking information on action, relating to Scotland, being taken at UK-level; (5) a number of shorter update evidence sessions on other areas of the Committee’s remit (4) that the Parliament’s Participation and Communities Team would make arrangements for an informal session with a focus of 20-minute neighbourhoods, as part of wider consultation on National Planning Framework 4; (5) its approach to scrutiny of, and to write to, Registers of Scotland, and (6) to write to the Scottish Government for an update on issues raised in public petition (PE1676) on the Land Registration etc. (Scotland) Act 2012.
