Good morning and welcome to the 10th meeting this session of the Scottish Parliament’s Health and Sport Committee. As usual, I remind committee members and members of the public to turn off all mobile phones and BlackBerrys. We have received apologies from Gil Paterson, who is unable to attend and is being substituted by Dennis Robertson.

I ask Mr Robertson whether he has any relevant interests to declare.

Yes, convener. Prior to the election in May, I was a client services manager in social care. Indeed, I have 30 years’ experience of working in social care, predominantly in the joint futures crossover between health and social work.

Thank you. I take the opportunity to invite everyone at the table, including our clerks, to introduce themselves. The man with the big loud voice is Duncan McNeil, the committee convener.
