The Committee agreed to take items 5, 6 and 7 in private.

2. Pandemic preparedness:

The Committee took evidence from—

Professor Sir Gregor Smith, Chief Medical Officer, and Daniel Kleinberg, Deputy Director, Population Health Resilience and Protection Division, Scottish Government;

Dr Jim McMenamin, Interim Director of Clinical and Protecting Health, Public Health Scotland.

Sandesh Gulhane declared an interest as a practising NHS GP.

3. Mental Welfare Commission for Scotland:

The Committee took evidence from—

Julie Paterson, Chief Executive Officer, Suzanne McGuinness, Executive Director of Social Work and Claire Lamza, Executive Director of Nursing, Mental Welfare Commission for Scotland.

Sandesh Gulhane declared an interest as a practising NHS GP.

Clare Haughey declared an interest as a registered Mental Health Nurse with the Midwifery and Nursing Council and as holding a bank nursing contract with Glasgow & Hyde.

Emma Harper MSP declared an interest as a registered nurse.
