The Committee took evidence on the Bill at Stage 1 from—

2. Pre-Budget Scrutiny:

The Committee took evidence as part of its Pre-Budget Scrutiny from—

Angela Constance, Cabinet Secretary for Justice and Don McGillivray, Director of Safer Communities, Scottish Government.


3. Subordinate legislation:

The Committee took evidence on the Sexual Offences Act 2003 (Notification Requirements) (Scotland) Amendment Regulations 2025 [draft] from—

Angela Constance, Cabinet Secretary for Justice and Home Affairs and Graham Robertson, Public Protection Unit, Scottish Government.


4. Subordinate legislation:

Angela Constance (Cabinet Secretary for Justice and Home Affairs) moved—

S6M-19301—That the Criminal Justice Committee recommends that the Sexual Offences Act 2003 (Notification Requirements) (Scotland) Amendment Regulations 2025 [draft] be approved.

The motion was agreed to.

The Committee took evidence on the Management of Offenders (Scotland) Act 2019 and the Prisoners (Early Release) (Scotland) Act 2025 (Consequential Modifications) Regulations 2026 [draft] from—

S6M-19681—That the Criminal Justice Committee recommends that the Management of Offenders (Scotland) Act 2019 and the Prisoners (Early Release) (Scotland) Act 2025 (Consequential Modifications) Regulations 2026 [draft] be approved.

Members considered deferring consideration of the motion to a future meeting but expressed a preference to continue. The motion was agreed to.


7. Prostitution (Offences and Support) (Scotland) Bill (In Private):

The Committee agreed to defer consideration of the evidence heard under agenda item 1 to a future meeting.


8. Pre-Budget Scrutiny (In Private):

The Committee agreed to defer consideration of the evidence heard under agenda item 2 to a future meeting.
