To ask the Scottish Government what progress has been made towards the commitment made in 2018 to reduce Scotland's food waste by 33% by 2025.

A detailed analysis of the composition of household waste and other available data has been undertaken and we aim to publish an updated food waste estimate in the coming months.

Our consultation on proposals for a Waste and Circular Economy Route Map set out proposed measures to accelerate progress towards our food waste reduction target, building on our 2019 Food Waste Reduction Action Plan. We will publish a review of progress and final Route Map later this year.

To ask the Scottish Government, further to the answer to question S6W-15206 by Jenny Gilruth on 6 March 2023, when it expects the National Dashcam Safety Portal to undergo trials and become fully operational for public use.

Police Scotland is reviewing the project’s timings as part of their wider planning for 2023/24 and beyond.

My predecessor met with the Assistant Chief Constable on 9 February on this matter, and whilst all those involved with delivering the National Dashcam Safety Portal remain committed to implementing this important safety initiative, I have asked my officials for an urgent update from Police Scotland on this matter.

To ask the Scottish Government, further to the answer to question S6W-05574 by Keith Brown on 20 January 2022, how many people died while in the custody of the Scottish Prison Service in (a) 2022 and (b) the first quarter of 2023.

In response to question (a) There were a total of 44 deaths in SPS custody during 2022.

In response to question (b) There have been a total of 4 deaths in SPS custody during the first quarter of 2023.

The SPS publishes information regarding all deaths in our custody in calendar years on the SPS website. This information is updated on a quarterly basis and can be accessed using the following link: Prisoner Deaths (sps.gov.uk) .

The next quarterly update will be published on the SPS website in April 2023 which will provide information on deaths in custody up to and including 31 March 202

To ask the Scottish Government whether the completion date for the Erasmus+ exchange programme remains as September 2023.

Following on from BREXIT, the UK Governments decision not to be involved as an associated third country – i.e. on the same footing as EU Member States – has radically reduced the number of opportunities for Scottish students to benefit from the Erasmus+ cooperation projects and exchange in the areas of education, training, youth, and sport.

All projects selected under the Erasmus+ programme 2014-2020 will continue until their completion on the same basis under which they were selected. All four year projects funded in the 2020 cycle must be complete by the 30 of June 2024.

While a limited number of opportunities from 2021 onwards remain open to Scottish and EU students, simply because they are open to institutions or individuals from all over the world, this is ultimately an example of the UK Government's BREXIT decision limiting the richness and variety of experiences open to our students.

To ask the Scottish Government whether it has been provided with any evaluation reports of the specialist domestic abuse courts in Glasgow and Edinburgh, and, if so, whether it will publish these.

To ask the Scottish Government how many mental health community link workers were recruited in each financial year from 2016-17 to 2021-22, broken down by NHS board.

Community Link Workers are generalists who support people with a range of social and economic issues which can include mental health. The Primary Care Improvement Fund (PCIF) funds Community Link Workers (CLWs) as part of primary care multi-disciplinary teams (MDTs). At March 2022, 249 WTE CLWs had been recruited to support GP practices.

The Scottish Government published information on the number CLWs recruited broken down by Integration Authority, on 21 June 2022.Further information, including the location by Integration Authority, of CLWs by both headcount and whole time equivalent, since 2018, can be accessed at: Supporting documents - Primary care improvement plans: summary of implementation progress - March 2022 - gov.scot (www.gov.scot) . This does not include CLWs recruited through funding other than PCIF funding.

The Scottish Government has already invested significantly to build mental health capacity including our Action 15 commitment to funding 800 additional mental health workers in key settings, including A&Es, GP practices, police station custody suite and prisons – ensuring local provision and support is at the heart of our plans. As at 12 July 2022, an additional 958.9 whole time equivalent (WTE) mental health roles have been filled using Action 15 funding, including 356.1 WTE posts in GP practices and a further 259.9 WTE mental health workers recruited under the Primary Care Improvement Fund (PCIF). To ask the Scottish Government how many people in Scotland were waiting to be assessed for social care on 1 January 2023.

On 2 January 2023, the number of people waiting for social care support assessment was 7,143. The latest data published by Public Health Scotland (PHS) shows that there were 6,706 waiting for a social care support assessment on 17 April 2023.

Please note:

The demand for a package of care is unknown in advance of the assessment taking place, and some of the people being assessed will not need a package of care.
Scotland estimates are derived by summing the number of people waiting from the partnerships. This excludes 3 Health and Social Care Partnerships who were unable to supply data.
Figures are collected each Monday.
