To ask the Scottish Government what action it is taking to ensure consistent access to early diagnostics and treatment for people living with pancreatic cancer to avoid a so-called postcode lottery.
Answer
Our 10-year Cancer Strategy is committed to ensuring excellent, equitably accessible, care for all people facing cancer across Scotland. The strategy continues to focus on those cancer types that have poorer survival, including pancreatic cancer, and improving their outcomes. The strategy has a specific tackling inequalities ambition aimed at reducing inequality in cancer incidence, access to services, experience, and outcomes.
Further to this, the Centre for Sustainable Delivery meet with NHS Boards’ Cancer Management Teams monthly to identify challenges, explore solutions and share best practice. These meetings have recently been reviewed and now incorporate wider planned care and diagnostic teams, as necessary, to ensure collaborative improvement plans are made.

To ask the Scottish Government what its position is regarding the Thrombectomy Advisory Group's update paper to the National Planning Board in August 2019, stating that “five essential components must all be provided for any given catchment population to receive a full thrombectomy service".
Answer
We would expect the components outlined in the paper to be included in the on-going planning work to align the governance and delivery of thrombectomy with similar national programmes. NHS National Services Scotland have been commissioned by Scottish Government to lead on the development of a national thrombectomy service and have undertaken considerable work to establish the current position of thrombectomy services. A task and finish group has been established, and this will help drive forward an assessment of updated capacity and analysis of clinical, operational, financial and workforce challenges.

To ask the Scottish Government when it plans to publish its draft Circular Economy Strategy.
Answer
I am pleased to confirm that the draft Circular Economy Strategy has been published today. Link: https://www.gov.scot/isbn/9781806432141.
This draft strategy sets out our vision and approach to creating a more circular economy that drives sustainable growth, competitiveness, innovation and jobs, and is vital to achieving our climate and environmental goals.
A more circular economy also brings benefits to households and communities by lowering the costs of items, creating new jobs and cutting the amount of litter on our streets, helping to improve our local environment and protect wildlife. I encourage everyone to take part in this consultation.
The draft Circular Economy Strategy has been prepared under the Circular Economy (Scotland) Act 2024.

To ask the Scottish Government what its position is on whether biological sex determines legal sex for the purposes of the law.
Answer
The Scottish Government accepts the judgment of the Supreme Court that in the Equality Act 2010, sex means biological sex, and that a Gender Recognition Certificate does not change a person’s sex for the purposes of the 2010 Act.

To ask the Scottish Government what steps it will take to reassure women that their rights under laws on single-sex spaces and services are protected.
Answer
The Scottish Government accepts the judgment of the Supreme Court which ruled that woman in the Equality Act 2010 is defined by biological sex.
The Scottish Government's Equally Safe Strategy is a national plan to prevent and eradicate violence against women and girls by addressing its root causes, such as gender inequality. First published in 2014 and refreshed in 2023, the strategy promotes collaborative work across public and third sectors, with a goal of creating a Scotland where women and girls are safe and protected from all forms of violence. The refreshed strategy is supported by a delivery plan outlining specific actions and is backed by the Delivering Equally Safe Fund.
While the Scottish Government will always work to support trans people in Scotland - this is not at the expense of our vital support for women and girls.
We believe the vast majority of people in Scotland want to live in a country that is respectful, compassionate and caring – and we are committed to protecting the rights of all.

To ask the Scottish Government what the rate of support in foster carers allowances is in each local authority area.
Answer
The Scottish Government does not hold this information centrally. Local authorities are responsible for paying foster carers’ allowances and may choose to pay above the Scottish Recommended Allowance (SRA).
Local authorities are expected to publish their allowances rates on their websites. As a minimum, from April 2025 the SRA rates are:
0 to 4 year-olds: £171.17
5 to 10 year-olds: £199.14
11 to 15 year-olds: £199.14
16-years-old and over: £272.97
