Transport Committee
The Transport Committee was established in June 2026. It focuses on devolved transport matters in Scotland including:
- maintaining and improving transport networks – including roads, pavements, railway lines, cycle paths, canals, and publicly owned airports
- public transport services, including buses and coaches, rail services, ferry services, and air services
- walking, cycling and accessible transport
- freight services, taxis, and private car use
- transport policy and budgets.

Over the coming months, the Committee will:
- undertake further work on regional air travel, including lifeline services
- focus its pre-budget scrutiny on road and rail development
- hold a series of evidence sessions on Scotland's bus services to review recent government policies and help shape future legislation.
Throughout the year, the Committee will hold individual evidence sessions on:
- ferries, ports, and harbours
- the impact of 20mph speed limits, Low Emission Zones, and pavement parking powers
- airport parking and drop-off charges
- the role of Scotland's canals in supporting economic development, tourism, and community wellbeing
- the role of cycling in Scotland's transport network.
Shipbuilding oversight
The Committee will receive quarterly updates from Ferguson Marine (Port Glasgow) Ltd (on the MV Glen Rosa) and Caledonian Maritime Assets Ltd (on vessels being built in Turkey).
