Members were invited to declare any relevant interests. The following interests were declared -
Duncan Massey declared an interest as an elected member of Aberdeen City Council, a shareholder in a limited company and as a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland.
Daniel Johnson declared interests as a director and sole shareholder of a retail company, a member of the USDAW and Community trade unions and a member of the Federation of Small Businesses.
Gary Bouse declared an interest as an elected member of Falkirk Council and was a commercial manager.
Kate Campbell declared an interest as an elected member of the City of Edinburgh Council.
Martyn Day declared no relevant interests.
Rachael Hamilton declared an interest as a director and share-holder of a hospitality business.
Kristopher Leask declared an interest as an elected member of Orkney Islands Council and as policy manager for Community Energy Scotland.
The Committee chose Daniel Johnson as Deputy Convener.
The Committee considered the timing of the lodging of the legislative consent memorandum from the Cabinet Secretary for Economy, Tourism and Transport (LCM-S7-2). The Convener outlined the reasons why the Committee were unable to consider the memorandum.
The Committee agreed to take agenda item 6 in private.
The Committee members introduced themselves and the areas that they are interested in.
The Committee considered its approach to developing its work programme. The Committee also agreed to hold a Business Planning Day.
