1. Decision on taking business in private:

The Committee agreed to take item 4 in private.

2. Scotland's prisons - evidence:

The Committee took evidence from—

Sara Snell, HM Chief Inspector of Prisons for Scotland and Jacqueline Clinton, Thematic Lead Inspector, HM Inspectorate of Prisons for Scotland.

3. Instrument subject to annulment:

The Committee considered the Dangerous Dogs (Compensation and Exemption Schemes) (Miscellaneous Amendment) (Scotland) Order 2026 (SSI 2026/204). The Committee agreed to make no recommendations in relation to the instrument.

4. Scotland's prisons - review of evidence:

The Committee considered the evidence it heard earlier under agenda item 2 and agreed to write to the Scottish Government in relation to issues arising from the session.

5. Work programme (in private):

The Committee considered its work programme and agreed to:

• undertake an external visit to a Scottish prison;
• hold a business planning event during the summer recess; and
• an outline of the work it wishes to undertake at its meetings in the autumn.

The Committee also agreed to delegate arrangements for these activities to the Convener and clerks.
