The Committee took evidence from—
Sara Snell, HM Chief Inspector of Prisons for Scotland and Jacqueline Clinton, Thematic Lead Inspector, HM Inspectorate of Prisons for Scotland.
The Committee considered the Dangerous Dogs (Compensation and Exemption Schemes) (Miscellaneous Amendment) (Scotland) Order 2026 (SSI 2026/204). The Committee agreed to make no recommendations in relation to the instrument.
The Committee considered the evidence it heard earlier under agenda item 2 and agreed to write to the Scottish Government in relation to issues arising from the session.
The Committee considered its work programme. The Convener agreed to invite the Cabinet Secretary for Justice to give evidence, and to hold a number of round-table sessions with key stakeholders. The Committee agreed to undertake an external visit to a Scottish prison, hold a business planning event during the summer recess, and an outline of the work it wishes to undertake at its meetings in the autumn. The Committee also agreed to delegate arrangements for these activities to the Convener and clerks.
