The Committee took evidence from—

James Black, Senior Knowledge Exchange Fellow, Fraser of Allander Institute.
The Committee considered the evidence heard under agenda item 2.
The Committee considered its work programme. The Committee agreed:
• To adopt a set of strategic objectives for its work and to consider a further draft of these objectives at a future meeting;
• Its approach to tracking and monitoring its work, including the scheduling of business planning meetings;
• To consider an approach to scrutiny of the next draft Climate Change Plan at a future meeting and to write to other committees in the Scottish Parliament;
• To take evidence on an annual basis from the Climate Change Committee;
• To hold annual evidence sessions with the Cabinet Secretary for Climate Action and Rural Affairs on a number of matters within its remit;
• To hold annual evidence sessions with public bodies within its remit;
• To consider at future meetings its approach to work on the Scottish Biodiversity Strategy and Delivery Plan, on circular economy issues and on an inquiry into the health of Scotland’s rivers;
• To write to the Scottish Government on the implementation of the Circular Economy (Scotland) Act 2024 and to take evidence from the Cabinet Secretary for Climate Action and Rural Affairs at a future meeting;
• To take evidence from the Scottish Government’s Programme Advisory Group on nature targets.
