To ask the Scottish Government whether it will provide an update on the date by which self-referral for over-70s to the breast screening programme will resume.
We need at least an understanding that those things are going to come in by X date, and some kind of commitment in that space, otherwise the proposals are pointless.
Therefore, there are bigger questions and links that could be explored at a later date. However, for now, the bill as it stands deals with some of the issues.
Things that I was taught at medical school are no longer the case, and we all need to keep up to date. Would the bill prevent any future advances in medicine from being given to patients who present to health professionals?
I have some concern about the way in which the conversation has been medically focused to date, because we—that is, social work and social care colleagues—are the ones who go out and visit a person in their home, or who try to track them down when they are homeless and get them into treatment.
My final question is one that I tend to ask every year. I am not up to date with the latest statistics, but we know that the cost of corruption has a fairly significant impact on UK GDP.
We have found that, through the engagement process that we have had to date with industry, we are getting a lot of pointers that will be quite helpful for future compliance activity in Scotland for the businesses that are based in Scotland.
We have a Scottish technical containment standard that is pretty out of date. Our understanding of the existing standard is that the industry is, essentially, using a Norwegian standard.
