Current cross-party groups

Cross-party groups can seek to establish themselves after the first meeting of Session 7 of the Scottish Parliament through the Standards, Procedures and Public Appointments Committee.

A number of new rules have been introduced for Session 7 and can be found in Section 6 of the Code of Conduct. You can also read the Session 6 Standards, Procedures and Public Appointments Committee's 6th Report of 2026.

Re-establishing a CPG after an election

CPGs provide an opportunity for MSPs to engage with external stakeholders on a particular subject.  They are not formal parliamentary business.  Views expressed by members of cross-party groups are their own and do not represent the views of the Scottish Parliament.

The MSP who convenes a cross-party group is responsible for signing off papers published on the group’s behalf.  Any questions or complaints about their content should be directed to the convener of the group.
