This Cross-party group's purpose:

The purpose of the group is to promote opportunities for MSPs and the scientific community in Scotland to interact on issues of importance to science, technology, engineering, mathematics and medicine.

Next meeting

Tuesday, April 23, 2024

The next meeting of the CPG Science & Technology will take place on Tuesday 23rd April in Committee Room 4 (1800 – 2000).

For this meeting, we will be joined by speakers from the Scottish AI Alliance. Steph Wright, Head of the Scottish AI Alliance, will host the session, inviting colleagues to present their areas of expertise and their wide-ranging work programme before we turn to a Q&A. This session will look at AI from a different angle… an opportunity to learn about what it is and what it isn’t… as well as what we’re actually doing about it in Scotland!

The Scottish AI Alliance is a partnership between The Data Lab and the Scottish Government and is led by a Minister-appointed Chair and overseen by Senior Responsible Officers from The Data Lab (CEO) and the Scottish Government (CDO).

  • The Scottish AI Alliance is tasked with the delivery of the vision outlined in Scotland’s AI Strategy in an open, transparent and collaborative way.
  • Scotland's AI Strategy and the Scottish AI Alliance are under the ministerial portfolio of Richard Lochhead MSP, Minister for Small Business, Trade and Innovation.
  • The group provides a focus for dialogue, collaboration and, above all, action on all things AI in Scotland.
  • Its activities are overseen by a Leadership Group with representation across society and working groups are convened as and when appropriate for specific projects and programmes from across Scotland’s AI community

This meeting will be in hybrid format
