Public Health Scotland (PHS) notes that at 31 December 2021, 533 patients were waiting for treatment as an inpatient or daycase in NHS Grampian within the specialty of oral and maxillofacial surgery. 557 patients were waiting for a new outpatient appointment.

To improve waiting times across Scotland, the NHS Recovery Plan was published in August 2021. The 5 year plan will support an increase in inpatient daycase, and outpatient activity to address the backlogs of care, which will be supported by the implementation of sustainable improvements and new models of care.

The Scottish Government does not gather information regarding spending by other public authorities on handling information requests. Any information gathered by NHS Boards, regarding the cost of responding to information requests should be sought directly from the relevant Board.

We continue to work with the yard to do everything we can to ensure that the new vessels enter service as quickly as possible, to deliver the further service improvements our island communities deserve .

After further analysis has been undertaken regarding the recently discovered legacy cabling issue, the new Ferguson Marine Chief Executive will outline the revised schedule for vessels 801 and 802, in his quarterly update to the Net Zero, Energy and Transport Committee at the end of March 2022.

The total estimated costs to complete the vessels remains the capital spend of £110m-114.3m, this is likely to change with the most recent cabling issue however we are unable to provide an update at this time, as we await the quarterly update. There is no resource funding at this time or loans to any parties regarding the build out of 801/802.

STPR2 did not recommend further work on the business case development for this proposed fixed link after the preliminary appraisal stage.

This was on the basis that the assessment work had highlighted significant issues in relation to topography and infrastructure requirements needed for this option.

As a result the option was assessed as not offering “value for money” and consequently was not considered further in the appraisal process. However, there remains a path for regional or local rail projects to come forward, subject to a strong business case being developed and suitable funding being available.

The Access to Argyll and Bute (A83) project announced a recommended preferred route corridor through Glen Croe in March 2021. This will help address the strategic need to improve connectivity to the Argyll and Bute region.

STPR2 did not recommend further work on the business case development of this proposed fixed link after being considered at the detailed appraisal stage.

An engineering assessment of the shortest possible road tunnel and alternate bridge option, which measured 32kms and 24kms respectively, concluded that both options were currently impractical to construct. The tunnel on the grounds of fire safety and the bridge due to the potential length of span required over the deepest section of water.

Furthermore, while the STPR2 Case for Change for the Highlands and Islands Region highlighted issues relating to the resilience of island connections, no analysis undertaken through the STPR2 process supported a conclusion that a fixed link connection between the Outer Hebrides (Benbecula) and Skye would address this strategic problem. Instead, STPR2 recommendation 24, recommends the renewal and replacement of the Clyde and Hebrides Ferry Services and Northern Isles Ferry Services vessels including progressive decarbonisation by 2045.
