It is difficult to confirm costs in guardianship cases as the circumstances will differ in each case.

When registering a guardianship order renewal, the Office of the Public Guardian (OPG) will charge a £95 fee. This fee covers the administrative processing of the renewal application. There is also a lodging fee of £138 charged by the Sheriff Court (from 1 April it will be £141). There may also be a fee for the medical examination, however this will depend on the doctor that is used and whether they charge for such a service.

The parents will need to seek legal assistance from a solicitor to navigate the renewal process, in which they will incur additional costs in the form of legal fees for the services provided by the legal professionals. These fees can vary depending on the complexity of the case and the amount of assistance required.

The Scottish Legal Aid Board (SLAB) are responsible for administering legal aid in Scotland. SLAB will assess eligibility based on financial circumstances of each case. If individuals were to meet the criteria, SLAB can provide funding for representation in legal matters, reducing or eliminating the costs associated with renewing their guardianship order.

To ask the Scottish Government…. What proportion of [CAMHS] patients have started treatment within 10 weeks of referral…. In each NHS Board for the last three years

Data on patients starting treatment is divided into wait bands. These are divided into 4-wait bands of 0-18 weeks, 19-35 weeks, 36-52 weeks and 53 weeks plus. Information on patients starting treatment within 10 weeks is therefore not recorded and as such, is not available. This is why the answer to question S6W-25597 indicated that it was not possible to provide this information.

However the statistic that 1 in 2 people referred to CAMHS start treatment in 10 weeks, is determined using a separate data point. This states that the median treatment time (ie the point at which half of patients begin treatment) for quarter ending September 2023 is 10 weeks. This data is published quarterly and monthly and changes frequently, as such the answer to S6W-25597 cannot be derived using this data point.

As indicated in the previous answer, this information is compiled and held by Public Health Scotland and as such they may hold further data which may be able to help given the technical nature of your query.

Eligible individuals may qualify for legal aid to help cover the costs associated with legal representation and court fees involved in renewing a guardianship order. Legal aid is means-tested, and eligibility criteria apply.

Organisations such as Citizens Advice Scotland and the Scottish Legal Aid Board provide financial assistance and support services to individuals and families facing financial difficulties in legal matters, including guardianship renewals.

Local authorities may provide guidance to individuals who are unable to afford the costs of renewing a guardianship order. Social work departments or welfare services within the local authority can offer support and advice on available resources.

Under Section 57(2) of the Adults with Incapacity (AWI) (Scotland) Act 2000, if a guardianship order (or renewal) is deemed necessary by the local authority and no application has been made or is anticipated, the authority must initiate the application process.

Boards are being commissioned to produce updated trajectories for 2024-25 and these are expected to be submitted throughout April and May.

In the most recent data published on 5 March 2024, covering the quarter ending December 2023, Tayside had zero patients waiting over 52 weeks to start treatment in CAMHS and a total of 5 patients waiting over 18 weeks to start treatment, which accounts for 3.2% of the total waiting list (156).

Legal aid, via the Scottish Legal Aid Board (SLAB) can provide financial support to families renewing guardianship orders for adults with learning disabilities. The Home Report single survey is based on a visual inspection of the home by a chartered surveyor. It provides information about the home, its condition, its accessibility and any repairs needed. Any defects identified during the property inspection would be noted in the survey report as well as any limitations to the inspection carried out. The Home Report is not a guarantee of the condition of the property, but it does provide buyers with important information about the property before they make an offer. Buyers are free to instruct their own surveyor to review the report or commission a more detailed survey before making an offer on a property.

The identification of RAAC usually involves a specialist survey, which often involves invasive investigation techniques and which is completed by a suitably qualified surveyor who is experienced with this type of construction.

A letter was issued by the Chief Planner regarding consents and variations to planning permission for energy generating ancillary uses on 27 August 2020. This letter confirmed that the Scottish Government considers a battery installation to generate electricity and should therefore be treated as a generating station.

No specific assessment on potential impacts to land value in rural areas has been undertaken.

The EY Regional Economic Forecast for 2024 suggests that Scotland will have a similar annualised employment growth rate to several regions and nations of the UK between 2024-2027, including Wales, Northern Ireland, the North East of England and the West Midlands. EY also indicate that Scotland had lower economic inactivity than Northern Ireland, the North East of England, Wales, the North West of England and East Midlands in 2023.

Employment growth is influenced by many factors including job creation and labour supply, with the latter reflecting demographics, migration, and participation in the labour market. Of those factors, Scotland has near record levels of payrolled employees at 2.46 million in February 2024.

The EY report identifies the importance of reducing economic inactivity and supporting people into employment. The Scottish Government is undertaking a range of action to address Scotland’s labour market challenges. For example, the Scottish Government will invest up to £90 million in devolved employability services No One Left Behind in 2024/25, to support those facing structural barriers to entering employment, alongside investment in childcare and support for those experiencing ill-health to remain in the labour market. The Scottish Government will also launch Scotland’s Migration Service during the course of 2024 to support inward investors and Scottish employers to use the immigration system to meet their skills and labour needs.

On Green Manufacturing , Scottish Government’s Making Scotland’s Future (MSF) programme includes a £75 million investment in the cutting edge facilities of the National Manufacturing Institute Scotland (NMIS). NMIS’s mission is to make Scotland a global leader in advanced, sustainable manufacturing, working with industry to unlock productivity gains, develop new products and processes, and promote sustainable practices that will offer a competitive edge. SG’s Scottish Manufacturing Advisory Service (SMAS) offers specialised support to businesses in the sector, helping them to increase their productivity through engaging with sustainable change.

In 2023 the Scottish Government commissioned an assessment into the state of electrolyser manufacturing globally, to support an understanding of the supply chain opportunities in Scotland. This work included detailed supply chain component analysis on electrolysers.

Scottish Enterprise’s high value manufacturing (HVM) team are currently leading on the ‘Integrated Supply Chain’ workstream, which includes engaging with businesses to allow the HVM team, along with key specialists and SDI to discuss directly with manufacturers the supply chain opportunities, skills and capabilities that can be applied to energy transition areas including hydrogen, offshore wind and clean heat.

On hydrogen specifically, Scottish Enterprise’s Hydrogen Expert Support programme has run from April 2023 and in that time supported over 30 Scottish supply chain companies, including manufacturers, that are keen to take advantage of the opportunities that the hydrogen economy will provide. Those companies have been provided with tailored reports, at no cost to the company, which have offered advice on next steps they could take based on the existing company capability and ambition.

The enterprise agencies have also over several years hosted in person workshops and webinars aimed at supply chain and manufacturing companies which have highlighted the national hydrogen strategy and ambition and the timeline and scale of the pipeline of projects in planning.

Building on these activities, and in alignment with the Scottish Government’s Hydrogen Action Plan, Scottish Enterprise is also progressing plans to implement a Scottish hydrogen supply chain cluster which will seek to further engage with companies with transferrable skills and capabilities, again including manufacturers, and help them to move into the hydrogen sector.

Scottish Enterprise has also provided grants and investment into several companies with an aim to expand/create manufacturing sites in hydrogen and other areas within the energy transition space.
