Agenda item 2 is to choose a committee convener. Parliament has agreed that only members of the Scottish Labour Party are eligible for nomination as committee convener. I therefore seek nominations for the position.

I nominate Karen Whitefield.

Karen Whitefield was chosen as convener.

Congratulations, Karen—I hope that you can take the chair from this point.

Thank you for my appointment as committee convener. I also thank Rob Gibson, who was in the dubious position of having to declare himself the oldest committee member to convene the meeting until we appointed a convener.
