Public Body Consent Memorandum
Advisory Committee on Hazardous Substances (Abolition) Order 2012 [Draft]
Agenda item 2 concerns public bodies consent. We are asked to consider a Scottish Government memorandum relating to the draft Advisory Committee on Hazardous Substances (Abolition) Order 2012. It is a United Kingdom order, and the Scottish Parliament must give its consent to it.
I refer members to paper RACCE/S4/12/11/1 and invite them to decide whether the committee agrees to recommend to the Parliament that the draft motion as set out in the public body consent memorandum be approved.
Are there any comments?
We might seek clarity on what input, if any, the Scottish Government will have to the setting-up of the proposed new scientific committee and its make-up.
Those are questions that we would have to ask the Cabinet Secretary for Rural Affairs and the Environment.
Do members have any other questions about the memorandum? It is an interim measure and is novel in that it is, I think, only the second one that the Parliament has considered. We will have to take this as we go, but the process is very much like that for the legislative consent motions that have gone through before.
If nobody has any other points to make, do we agree to recommend to the Parliament that the draft motion be approved?
Members indicated agreement.
Thank you very much.
