Decision on Taking Business in Private

The Convener (Gil Paterson):

I welcome everyone to the 10th meeting in 2009 of the Standards, Procedures and Public Appointments Committee. I am sorry that we are starting a little late; the whole committee has been at a briefing elsewhere.

I propose that we take a number of items in private. As you know, the committee previously agreed to consider in private items on the Interpretation and Legislative Reform (Scotland) Bill and on section 2 of the code of conduct for members of the Scottish Parliament. I suggest that we also consider in private item 4, on the committee's work programme, item 5, on the Public Services Reform (Scotland) Bill, and item 6, on the Scottish Government's response to the committee's report on the accuracy of contributions in parliamentary proceedings.

What is the rationale for taking item 6 in private?

We have not yet had an opportunity to discuss the matter in private, which is our normal process. We would normally have a chat about such a matter before deciding what to do about it.

Okay.

Are members happy to take items 4, 5 and 6 in private?

Members indicated agreement.
