That takes us to the fifth item on the agenda, which deals with the parliamentary mace and which, as members can see, has been extensively researched through a variety of different Parliaments and chambers. We are invited to discuss the issue, particularly whether the current arrangements are appropriate, whether we wish to reintroduce the ceremony that has taken place on a number of occasions or whether we wish to suggest an alternative ceremony.
I think that committee members might be of a common mind. The present arrangements are fine. We need nothing more and should keep them for forever and a day.
A minimalist approach.
A quick dusting over.
Are we all happy with that?
