Environmental Protection (Single-use Plastic Products) (Scotland) Regulations 2021:Submission from the Scottish Retail Consortium
Submission from the Scottish Retail Consortium prior to the meeting on 7 December 2021
In terms of a written submission, please accept the following points:
- we’re broadly supportive of the Scottish Government’s approach as our members who operate cafes within their shops or who operate coffee shops, quick service restaurants and food-to-go by and large have removed these items anyway
- that our understanding is that its pretty much in line with European regulations which our members comply with anyway
- the change on straws is helpful – it’s difficult for our members to balance getting rid of straws with the legitimate issues raised by disability campaigners on this matter
The Scottish Retail Consortium has published the following article about the Retailer/Landlord Net Zero Building Protocol: Retailers/landlords to drive greener property:
MSP Maurice Golden has lodged Motion S6M-02330 - Realising Net Zero by 2040 in the Retail Industry - at Holyrood welcoming the publication of the protocol.
