1. Declaration of interests:

Tess White MSP did not have any relevant interests to declare.


2. Decision on taking business in private:

The Committee agreed to take item 5 in private.

The Committee agreed to take the next meeting on 7 June 2022 in private.




3. Health Inequalities:

The Committee took evidence from—

Dr Ima Jackson, Scottish Migrant Ethnic Health Research Strategy (SMEHRS) Group;

Bill Scott, Chair, Poverty and Inequality Commission;

Claire Sweeney, Director of Place and Wellbeing, Public Health Scotland;

Ed Pybus, Policy and Parliamentary Officer, Child Poverty Action Group in Scotland;

and then from—

Danny Boyle, BEMIS Scotland Senior Parliamentary and Policy Officer and National Coordinator of the EMNRN, BEMIS and Ethnic Minority National Resilience Network;

Gill Bhatti, Employee and Diversity Manager, South Lanarkshire Council;

Emma Fyvie, Senior Manager (Development), Clackmannanshire Council;

Dr Gillian Purdon, Head of Nutrition, Science and Policy, Food Standards Scotland.


4. Subordinate legislation:

The Committee considered the following negative instrument— Food and Feed Safety (Fukushima Restrictions) (Scotland) Revocation Regulations 2022

 

The Committee agreed to make no recommendations in relation to the instrument.


5. Health Inequalities:

The Committee considered the evidence it heard earlier under agenda item 3.
