1 Declaration of interests:

Foysol Choudhury was invited to declare any relevant interests. Mr Choudhury had no interests to declare.


2 Consideration of continued petitions:

The Committee considered the following continued petitions— 

PE1887: Create an Unborn Victims of Violence Act. The Committee agreed to seek a Chamber debate on the issues raised in the petition.  

PE1928: Provide free rail travel for disabled people who meet the qualifications for free bus travel. The Committee agreed to highlight submissions recently received in a letter to the Scottish Government.  

PE1933: Allow the Fornethy Survivors to access Scotland’s redress scheme. The Committee agreed to invite the Deputy First Minister to give evidence at a future meeting. 

PE1945: Ban the extraction and use of peat for horticulture and all growing media by 2023. The Committee agreed to write to the Scottish Government.  

PE1946: To call on the Scottish Government to pay all charges for homeless temporary accommodation. The Committee agreed to write to the Scottish Government.  

PE1949: Review the rules concerning Dual Mandate MSPs. The Committee agreed to refer the petition to the Standards, Procedures and Public Appointments Committee under Rule 15.6 of Standing Orders for further consideration.  

PE1971: Take Robust Action to Stop Motorcycle Theft. The Committee agreed to write to the Scottish Courts and Tribunals Service. 


3 Consideration of new petitions:

The Committee considered the following new petitions— 

PE2003: Prohibit reward systems in fast food chains. The Committee agreed to close the petition under Rule 15.7 of Standing Orders.  

PE2004: Abolish the use of Public Private Partnerships in Scotland. The Committee agreed to write to the Scottish Government and the Scottish Futures Trust.    

PE2005: Formal response to the annual Adoption Barometer Report in Scotland. The Committee agreed to close the petition under Rule 15.7 of Standing Orders. 

PE2006: Review and simplify the legislation in relation to dismissal of property factors. The Committee agreed to write to the Scottish Government, the Property Managers Association Scotland, Shelter Scotland, Under One Roof, and Citizens Advice Scotland.  


4 Public Participation Inquiry(In Private)

The Committee considered issues arising from the inquiry, in order to inform drafting of its report.
