Scottish Parliament firsts

It was the first time that members voted entirely virtually from locations throughout Scotland. 27 February 2021 First ethnic minority party leader: Anas Sarwar, Scottish Labour 25 March – 4 May 2021 First time the Scottish Parliament held a campaign recess. Instead of dissolution, from 25 March 2021 the Parliament was in recess until the day before the election.

During recess (30 March to 14 April), opening hours are: Monday to Saturday (including public holidays) – 10am to 5pm (last entry 4.30pm)   Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday – 9am to 6.30pm (last entry 6pm) The Scottish Parliament is currently in recess and the building is closed from Saturday 10th to Sunday 18th February.
