It is further explained that as the 2003 Regulations cross-refer to the Codes it is necessary to amend those regulations so that they reflect the Codes as amended.
It will set targets and prioritises activities by balancing the need to meet its statutory duties to adjudicate on complaints about breaches of the Codes of Conduct and to provide guidance, with other objectives.
This was achieved in 2016, with the Office for Statistics Regulation confirming they met the highest standards of trustworthiness, quality and value as set out in the Code of Practice for 1 Official Statistics .
In one case the Committee found that there had been a breach of the Code and wrote to the Co-Conveners of the Group to remind them of the obligation to comply with the requirements of the Code of Conduct.
Development, approval and review
Sections 6 to 10 of the Bill set out the duties of the Commissioner in developing and implementing a Code of Practice on the use of biometrics by those bodies to which the Code applies.
Potential changes to the Code of Conduct
The Committee is responsible for recommending changes to the Code of Conduct for MSPs for agreement by the Parliament as a whole.
