The committee previously considered the petition on 8 September, when we agreed to write to the Scottish Government to seek an update on its response to the deer working group. To date, no response has been received from the Scottish Government.
There is an opportunity to work across different groups, but there are areas, such as textiles, that have not seen a great deal of sector focus in the Parliament to date. I see the CPG as adding value to our political discussions but also being of value to the people of Scotland.
I disagree with the minister’s simplistic understanding of the need for food banks. There is a much more complicated situation, which we need to better understand.
Tens of thousands of Scots who have not had bank accounts and who therefore could not previously access payday loans, are being forced to open bank accounts.
There is a lot of debate at the moment about increased use of food banks as well as concerns about the availability of support and social security payments now.

Where Public Health Scotland shows trend information, the positivity rate is calculated based on specimen date (the date on which people took the tests) and therefore these figures are different.
