First-time buyers can access a variety of support to become a home owner, including the Help to Buy Smaller Developers Scheme and the Low Cost Initiative for First-Time Buyers (LIFT).
Given that it is a time of great need, and although we welcome the actions of the UK Government to date, there are actions that only the UK Government can take, because that is where policy and administration of sick pay and welfare benefits lie.
One of the challenges is that, although many parents in Scotland work flexibly, many of them work flexibly in ways that reduce their income. If you can work full-time in a hybrid way—some time in an office and some time at home—that is really helpful.
