Official Report Meeting date: 13 November 2002

Enterprise and Lifelong Learning Committee, 13 Nov 2002

I believe that we may be joined by MSPs who are not members of the committee but who have an interest in the subject.I introduce Warwick Brady, the head of operations at Ryanair; Ian Reid, British Airways' general manager for Scotland; and Mike Cooper, the business development director for easyJet.
Official Report Meeting date: 30 October 2002

It has been difficult for me as the constituency MSP and for the local authority to get clarity on where that work is placed in Scottish Water's capital programme. There is no argument that the intensity of the rainfall on the night in July was exceptional and that some of the incidents were inevitable.
Official Report Meeting date: 12 September 2002

Plenary, 12 Sep 2002

We made clear our position on that decision in London, where we can do something about it, rather than here, where we can do nothing about it.In establishing areas in which the Liberal Democrats contend that improvement needs to be made, we do not need the sterile argument that Fergus Ewing has just made about the powers that the Scottish Parliament does not have. Official Report Meeting date: 7 June 2002

Rural Development Committee, 07 Jun 2002

Perhaps the solution is in the hands of MSPs. My question is for David Beckley.
Official Report Meeting date: 6 June 2002

Social Justice Committee, 06 Jun 2002

I think that it should be passed and that people should be encouraged to seek early advice from CABx, money advisers, law centres, solicitors, sheriff officers, MSPs and so on. However, no matter what legislation we pass, there will be a rump of people who will wear blinkers and pretend that the problem is not happening to them.
Official Report Meeting date: 13 May 2002

Rural Development Committee, 13 May 2002

My real question is for Ian Cleaver, who made a comment about the forestry industry. As a constituency MSP for a tourist area in the north-east, I know that clear felling is resisted in Deeside.
Official Report Meeting date: 8 May 2002

Plenary, 08 May 2002

We certainly must act on such information at a Scottish level.I am an MSP for the Highlands and Islands and am aware that ordinary people who are trying to earn a living or run a business are sometimes left out of the sustainability equation and are finding it harder to sustain their lives in remote areas.
Official Report Meeting date: 23 April 2002

Local Government Committee, 23 Apr 2002

However, I do not think that it does, because that is not what MSPs say to me. They ask us why we are moving services out and they tell us that we are well funded.
