Supported by: Michelle Ballantyne* *S5M-19670 Iain Gray: Dogs Trust, Firework Dog Code—That the Parliament supports the Dogs Trust's Firework Dog Code; understands that dogs are negatively affected by the fireworks season and, by following the code, the public can help limit the distress caused to dogs, and notes that the code asks the public to follow the five simple steps, to attend a local organised display, to let neighbours know well in advance if holding a private event, to limit displays to 30 minutes, to opt for quieter, lower decibel fireworks and to encourage dog owners to follow the Dogs Trust's advice to lessen stress.

I would say that Parliament must absolutely have a vote on the code of practice. The difficulty with discussing the code of practice before we discuss the bill is that the code of practice will not be any good unless the bill is right.
