Not everybody has the confidence and wherewithal to destroy an animal once it has been caught. We have had live animals on glue traps being put in bins or being drowned.
The Committee has also made efforts to listen to the views of underrepresented groups as part of its work on the Cost of Living (Tenant Protection) (Scotland) Bill and its inquiry into damp and mould in social and private rented housing.
For example, during our pre-budget scrutiny, the Committee heard compelling evidence that the cost-of-living crisis is having a disproportionate impact on women, and we therefore asked the Scottish Government to consider how it can best support women through these challenging times.

Time periods before an application can be granted
Maggie Chapman's amendments sought to remove the time periods from the application process, specifically:
the three month period of living in the acquired gender
the three month reflection period required before the applicant can confirm they wish to proceed with the application.

The instrument also provides for compensatory payments from the Scottish Infected Blood Support Scheme (SIBSS) and additional payments from the State for the purpose of responding to increases in the cost of living to be disregarded from financial assessment when applications are made for publicly funded legal assistance.
