Overview of the Bill
This Scottish Government Bill was introduced by the Cabinet Secretary for Justice and Home Affairs, Angela Constance MSP, on 6 June 2023. The lead committee is the Criminal Justice Committee.
The Cabinet Secretary for Rural Affairs and Islands, Mairi Gougeon MSP, told the Rural Affairs and Islands Committee on 31 May 2023 that the survey received around 1000 responses, and "showed that the majority of people had undertaken an action such as a carbon audit or nutrient management planning.
Committee Convener, Ariane Burgess MSP, said:
"Cladding was a major contributing factor to the fire which destroyed Grenfell Tower in June 2017, one of the UK's worst modern disasters.
The Committee’s post-legislative scrutiny of the Act will seek to find out whether the Act is achieving desired outcomes and if not, what is causing a lack of progress.
