To ask the Scottish Government whether it remains committed to its pledge to maintain 1,000 extra police officers from the 16,234 police officers recorded in March 2007. As at 30 June 2016, there were 17,242 full time equivalent police officers in Scotland – 1,008 more than on 31 March 2007.

My officials have already begun the series of round-table discussions with stakeholders that will help to bring in Awaab’s law from March next year. By way of background, Awaab’s law is named after Awaab Ishak, who died in 2020 in Rochdale in England, having been exposed to mould in his home.
