When Perth and Kinross Council recently sought views about a new park, it received just 352 responses out of a population of approximately 68,000, and less than 200 were supportive, many of them living outside the area.
Fish population declines resulting from overfishing inshore nursery grounds have had untold impacts on many families that left the fishing. This historical injustice must be righted.
The Committee is also sympathetic to the view expressed in many responses to the call for evidence that there is a need for reinforced independent oversight of the duties conferred by the Bill beyond its existing provisions on review and reporting.

At the heart of that was the need to have derogations and mitigations to make it work. We are two years on and, in many respects, those questions have not been answered by either side—many of the questions remain unanswered.
As Patrick Harvie said, we are going backwards in many policy areas, and we are simply not taking many of the actions that are required to meet the targets that we discuss in the chamber.
