The LGHP Committee also asked for an update on the Scottish Government’s intentions in respect of potential reforms to the approval process for Boundary Scotland recommendations and confirmation of when the then Deputy First Minister expected Boundary Scotland to undertake its next set of reviews of arrangements for local government elections. On 15 March 2024 the LGHP Committee received a response from the Minister for Parliamentary Business which stated that “the Scottish Government has made a commitment in the policy memorandum for the Scottish Elections (Representation and Reform) Bill to consider further how best to approach any future changes to the boundary approval process”2Scottish Parliament.
