Supported by: Paul McLennan*, Bill Kidd*, Emma Roddick*, Fulton MacGregor* *S6M-00130 Martin Whitfield: Royal Visit to Heavy Sound CIC—That the Parliament welcomes Their Royal Highnesses' the Earl and Countess of Strathearn's recent visit to East Lothian, which included visiting the Cockenzie-based social enterprise, Heavy Sound CIC, which makes learning work for vulnerable, disadvantaged and disengaged young people, re-engaging them through innovative projects involving hip-hop and rapping, song writing, DJ’ing and mixing tuition, electronic music production, sound recording, graphic design and film making, as well as mentoring and other projects, such as bicycle maintenance and martial arts; believes that, since its establishment in 2015, Heavy Sound, and its ethos of "changing lives through music", has made a significant contribution to the wellbeing and life chances of the young people it has worked with, and commends the project’s staff and volunteers on its positive impact.
