We work with businesses to look at whether a site is appropriate, to try to cut out some of the unnecessary work on sites that are less favourable, and we talk about what sort of approach to technology or size of farm might apply at a particular site.
Both elements could be altered not only to encourage investment in town centre properties but to effectively discourage developers from going into greenfield sites ahead of brownfield sites. The latter point is an issue with the VAT incentives in particular which, at the moment, encourage the usage of greenfield sites rather than the regeneration and refurbishment of disused brownfield sites.
To ask the Scottish Government what options are available to (a) it and (b) its agencies to assist in developing the Texas Instruments facility site in Greenock in the event that the current owners stop production.
The challenge is to get the right processes in place to deliver restored peatlands and to ensure the ease of that process and future funding streams. We took part in the peatland action project when it was running, and we had six sites that needed restoration.

The Royal Society of Architects in Scotland explained to the Committee that brownfield site developments therefore have additional costs related to the remediation and decontamination of the site.
