Questions and answers

Parliamentary questions can be asked by any MSP to the Scottish Government or the Scottish Parliamentary Corporate Body. The questions provide a means for MSPs to get factual and statistical information.

  • Written questions must be answered within 10 working days (20 working days during recess)
  • Other questions such as Topical, Portfolio, General and First Minister's Question Times are taken in the Chamber

To ask the Scottish Government, regarding local authority participation in public inquiries relating to major electricity transmission infrastructure projects, (a) what financial, legal or technical support is available to local authorities participating in such inquiries, (b) whether it has assessed if local authorities have sufficient resources to participate effectively in such  inquiries, (c) what discussions ministers have had with local authorities regarding the cost implications of participation in these, and (d) whether it has considered establishing dedicated funding support for local authorities involved in such inquiries and, if so, what the outcome has been of this.
