That the Parliament commemorates the life of Alan Coghill, from Orkney, who has sadly passed away aged 82; recognises that Alan was a huge stalwart of the Scottish fishing industry and championed the local communities it served with integrity and determination throughout his life; acknowledges that Alan served as the President of the Scottish Fishermen's Federation from 2010 to 2014 following decades of tireless commitment to local fisheries through the Orkney Fisheries Association and Orkney Islands Council; understands that Alan was instrumental in the establishment of the Orkney Fish Producers Organisation Ltd in 2000 and the development of pier infrastructure across the isles, which supported numerous whitefish and shellfish fishermen; believes that, in his various roles, Alan provided invaluable leadership for the Scottish fishing industry at home and abroad through its many challenges over the years, and that he always strived to build a sustainable industry for the future; acknowledges that Alan's presence and knowledge will be sorely missed, and offers its condolences to his family and friends at this sad time.
