That the Parliament congratulates Professor Sharon Hutchinson of Blanefield on being appointed a Commander of the Order of the British Empire in The King’s New Year’s Honours; acknowledges that she has been the Professor of Epidemiology and Population Health at Glasgow Caledonian University since 2013 and received the award for services to public health research; considers that Professor Hutchinson leads a broad translational research programme on the epidemiology of blood borne viruses, and has authored more than 200 papers, and notes that she has worked jointly with Public Health Scotland, which is the national centre that monitors communicable diseases, for over 15 years.
