That the Parliament congratulates Dumbarton on its 800th anniversary; further congratulates West Dunbartonshire Council on organising 12 months of celebratory activities to highlight Dumbarton’s rich history and heritage; notes that 8 July 2022 marked 800 years since the foundation charter for the Royal Burgh of Dumbarton was sealed by Alexander II in Jedburgh; understands that the celebrations will involve community participation, asking residents to submit photographs of their favourite places in the town to the council’s local history collection; acknowledges that a video exploring the story of the town through the eyes of its young people will also be produced, and looks forward to action from the Scottish Government and Historic Environment Scotland to help celebrate this historic occasion.
