Raith Fruit, 70 Years and Three Generations

  • Submitted by: David Torrance, Kirkcaldy, Scottish National Party.
  • Date lodged: Tuesday, 25 January 2022
  • Motion reference: S6M-02900

That the Parliament notes the 70th anniversary of the family-run business, Raith Fruit, in Kirkcaldy; understands that, since the business opened its doors on Kirkcaldy High Street in March 1952, three generations of the Brady family have continued to grow and evolve its operations and customer base, supplying both the retail and wholesale market, including the prestigious five-star Balmoral Hotel; notes what it sees as the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the business, and its successful navigation of these challenges by responding to the changing market through the use of digital technology; understands that its charity work has included the donation of Christmas trees to local groups and donations to Kirkcaldy Foodbank, housing associations and YMCA; commends what it sees as the hard work and commitment of the Brady family, and wishes them continued success for the future.
