G64 Cycles Celebrates First Birthday with Macmillan Coffee Morning

  • Submitted by: Rona Mackay, Strathkelvin and Bearsden, Scottish National Party
  • Date lodged: Wednesday, 15 September 2021
  • Motion type: Standard Motion
  • Motion reference: S6M-01218

That the Parliament congratulates all at G64 Cycles as they celebrate their first year of trading; understands that, despite challenging market conditions, the Flockhart family established G64 Cycles in Bishopbriggs in September 2020 to service, repair and sell electric, hybrid, mountain and road bikes; delights that diverting waste from landfill features heavily in their operation through the locally unique action of recycling tyres and inner tubes, in addition to selling refurbished bikes alongside new stock; further delights that G64 Cycles has actively sought to provide preloved bicycles to those who could otherwise struggle to access them through gifting to good causes such as Women's Aid, YPeople, Bike for Good and D'ils on Wheels; understands that G64 Cycles is continuing to support charities through hosting a Macmillan Coffee Morning on 18 September 2021 to celebrate its first birthday; notes that a £5 donation to Macmillan Cancer Support is being made for every bike currently sold, and wishes Katie and the wider family every success with this event and the ongoing operation of this ethical business.
