That the Parliament welcomes the efforts of local campaigners in south Edinburgh to name a new primary school on Canaan Lane after Saroj Lal; notes Saroj Lal’s contribution to primary education in Morningside, as well as her wider contribution to diversity and race relations in Edinburgh as one of the first women of colour to be a teacher; considers that naming Morningside’s new primary school after her would help to recognise south Edinburgh’s many different communities and underline the importance of diversity and inclusivity for the new school’s pupils, and wishes the campaign the best of luck in its future endeavours.
