Edinburgh's George Heriot's Pupils Raise More Than £2,000 for Charity as Part of Poverty Awareness Week

  • Submitted by: Sue Webber, Lothian, Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party.
  • Date lodged: Tuesday, 08 June 2021
  • Motion reference: S6M-00286

That the Parliament congratulates pupils at George Heriot's School for raising more than £2,000 for Invisible Cities and the Grassmarket Community Project, through an innovative challenge; understands that pupils kept their shoes on for 48 hours straight as part of their Poverty Awareness week; acknowledges that the challenge helped school children to understand more about the issues faced by rough sleepers while on the streets, such as podiatry issues and lack of access to adequate shoes, and thanks George Heriot's School's pupils for their incredible fundraising effort.
