Falkirk District’s Craig Eddie wins The Voice UK

  • Submitted by: Angus MacDonald, Falkirk East, Scottish National Party.
  • Date lodged: Monday, 22 March 2021
  • Motion reference: S5M-24433

That the Parliament congratulates Craig Eddie, who lives in Falkirk, on winning the ITV singing contest, The Voice UK; notes that Craig, who is well known in the Falkirk district as a singer/songwriter, won the contest in the live final of the show, which aired on 20 March 2021, beating three other singers to win a record contract; recognises that Craig is a former pupil of St Francis Xavier Primary School and St Mungo’s High School in Falkirk, which had pupils send messages of good luck to him before the final; understands that The Voice, which originated in the Netherlands and subsequently premiered in America in 2011, sees four celebrity coaches pick their favourite singers from “blind auditions”, judging the singer based on their voice alone, with the UK version of the contest this year featuring Sir Tom Jones, Will.I.Am of the Black Eyed Peas, Olly Murs and Anne-Marie as coaches; further congratulates Craig on winning this series of The Voice, and wishes him the very best of luck with his career, and looks forward to hearing more from him in the future.
