That the Parliament welcomes Queen Margaret Hospital in Dunfermline being the first in Scotland to use the innovative prostate procedure, Rezum, which uses steam rather than traditional treatment methods, including medication, that are not always effective, often have side-effects and can lead to hospital stays; notes that it takes around 20 minutes to complete, allowing people to return home on the same day; understands that this is the latest urological innovation to be pioneered by NHS Fife, following the implementation of the Urolift procedure in 2018; is enthused that, by allowing faster treatment, Rezum will help reduce waiting times; congratulates the surgeon who carried out the initial procedure, Feras Al Jaafari, and commends Queen Margaret Hospital and NHS Fife for their sterling work in this very necessary field.
