Christmas Together Campaign

  • Submitted by: Anas Sarwar, Glasgow, Scottish Labour.
  • Date lodged: Thursday, 10 December 2020
  • Motion reference: S5M-23671

That the Parliament welcomes the launch of the Christmas Together campaign; notes that this is an initiative of the Together Coalition and is taking place as part of the Great Winter Get Together from the Jo Cox Foundation; notes that in Scotland the campaign has partnered with Chest Heart and Stroke Scotland’s Kindness Call programme to pair volunteers with people who are feeling isolated, alone and in need of someone to talk to; congratulates the charities on their work to bring people together this Christmas; recognises that loneliness and isolation have increased as a result of the coronavirus pandemic and many people will be alone this Christmas, and welcomes the campaign’s aim to rekindle the community spirit that helped everyone get through the darkest days of this year and to make new connections to bring people together and reduce loneliness.
