That the Parliament congratulates Ardrossan Castle Heritage Society after the castle was crowned as one of Scotland’s six "Hidden Gems" as part of Scotland’s Year of History, Heritage and Archaeology; understands that the title was awarded following the casting of 12,000 votes by members of the public and a two-month search conducted by Dig It! 2017 to unearth Scotland’s best-kept archaeological secrets; notes that the six winning sites, Ardrossan Castle, the Govan Stones, the Howff, James Watt Cottage, Campbeltown Picture House and Lincluden Collegiate Church, will be celebrated with a host of interactive heritage events to coincide with the 2017 September Archaeology Month; recognises that the heritage society is organising an event entitled, Glow to the Castle, to celebrate this on 22 September 2017 with an evening of free activities and entertainment, including lantern-making workshops, a circus-skills workshop and a parade, and wishes the Ardrossan Castle Heritage Society every success in using this accolade as a platform to further develop the castle as an asset to the local community and to Scotland.
