That the Parliament welcomes the creation of Kirkcaldy’s first ever Field of Remembrance at the War Memorial Gardens, which has been organised by the Kirkcaldy branch of the Royal British Legion Scotland; understands that the Field of Remembrance will open on 24 October 2026, ahead of the annual Remembrance Sunday commemorations on 8 November; notes that members of the public will be invited to place wooden crosses beside the war memorial in memory of those who made the ultimate sacrifice, particularly descendants and family members of those named on the memorials; recognises that the event coincides with the centenary of Lady Haig’s Poppy Factory in Edinburgh, the 105th anniversary of the Royal British Legion Scotland and the 101st anniversary of the opening of Kirkcaldy War Memorial; commends the Army Cadet Force, RAF Cadets, Girl Guides, Boys’ Brigade and Scouts for their contributions to the woollen poppy displays that have decorated the memorial; acknowledges the dedication of local knitters, crocheters and volunteers who have helped make the initiative possible; congratulates Bill Mason, chair of the Kirkcaldy branch, and all those involved in organising this community tribute, and wishes them every success in providing a meaningful opportunity for reflection, remembrance and respect for those who have served and sacrificed.
